I’ve always preferred to conduct my banking in person. I simply felt more comfortable handing someone my deposits and my withdrawals. If I wanted to transfer money from one account to another account, I had to wait to do it during business hours. I never even considered looking into other options. The concept of online banking just didn’t appeal to me. However, after about a year of hearing people rave about how much they love being able to engage in online banking, I decided that perhaps it was time for me to join the crowd. I made an appointment to meet with a representative from my bank. He assured me that online banking is completely secure and so simple that anyone can figure it out. I wasn’t sure how to get started, but I left there with quite a bit of knowledge.

Now, it is almost three years later. I’ve been dependent on online banking since the moment I first signed up. I honestly can say that I can’t imagine not being able to check my account balances on the weekends or in the evenings. I can transfer money from my savings account to my checking account with a simple click of the mouse. Sure, I can’t withdraw money from my account and have it pop out of my computer, but there are so many conveniences. I cannot even tell you when the last time was that I sat down and balanced my checkbook. Through my online banking setup, I can check my account daily and see what is coming and going. If there is something that doesn’t make sense to me, I can call the bank and have them check into the problem.

As online banking has become more and more popular, so has the ability for people to create banking scams. Most recently, people have started to receive an email from someone pretending to be their bank. They ask you to log into your account and voila – just like that, they have access to your account. Most banks have warned against this sort of scam and have taken extra precautions to help you to avoid it. Personally, I have never had any issues with my online banking or my accounts. Perhaps I’ve been lucky, or perhaps I’ve just been quite cautious. No matter how many scams pop up, nothing will be able to convince me that my online banking should be terminated. I love it too much.

Almost every single bank that you will find will offer some form of online banking. If you find a bank that doesn’t offer this service, perhaps you should find a bank that has more modern technology and offers this convenience to its customers. It may be a scary concept at first, but before too long, you’ll be loving your online banking abilities.
