Building Climbing Walls

Building a rock climbing wall is one of the most interesting and potentially rewarding projects that you can do at home. Building climbing walls is much easier than most people assume, and it can provide you a great place to train and work out. Rock climbing has been proven to be one of the most effective exercises. It builds both upper and lower body strength, as well as cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, balance, coordination, and concentration. Unfortunately, many people do not live close enough to rock climbing gyms, and many of the gyms that do exist are prohibitively expensive for some users. Building a climbing wall is a great way to get around this. If you take the necessary precautions and be sure to double check everything for safety, You can have a great way to work out in the comfort of your own home.

First, a word of caution: building climbing walls is not something for novices. Not only should you have some experience in construction before you undertake it, but you should have some experience in rock climbing as well. If you don't know how deeply the anchors have to go, how far the holds should be placed apart, Or how to check and double check all of your safety equipment, you should leave this project for sometime in the future. After all, there are plenty of alternatives.

For example, you don't have to build climbing walls – you can buy them. Many companies make portable climbing walls that can be assembled in your own home. Although these can cost quite a bit of money, they are still worth considering as an investment. If you are a serious climber, it really helps to have a professional wall in such a great location!

Of course, if you know what you're doing and you want to build a climbing wall,there is nothing that should hold you back. There are many different ways to do it. A lot of people starting off building climbing walls assume that you have to start from the ground up – that is, you have to lay the concrete with the holds in it already. This is simply not the case. With high quality epoxy glue, you can build climbing walls on existing concrete structures. Trees are often feasible alternatives as well. Many climbers prefer abandoned buildings. Check to make sure that this is not illegal in your neighborhood before you try it out! Do a little bit of research – there are many high-quality books on building climbing walls around that will to you exactly how to prepare the concrete to take the supports and footholds.
