One of the most scenic areas in Canada is the state of Ontario. Large areas of the state are still a wonderful wilderness where people can escape from the bustle of city life. It's an ideal location for hikers, hunters, bird watchers and fishing enthusiasts who like to get away from traffic noise. Ontario fishing is particularly popular and there are many companies that specialize in this sort of vacation. The air and water is pollution free and it's a big enough region to avoid being crowded with tourists.

Lakeair Lodge is a family run business and has been operating since 1919. The cottages and boats are sited on the west side of Lake Nipissin. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and has sundecks or screened porches. Homemade meals are served in the communal dining room and there is a packed lunch prepared and a maid service. Alternative living quarters can be found at the trailer park.

The boats are maintained well and bait is supplied. This is the best of Ontario fishing in gorgeous scenery with islands, bays and a stretching shoreline. The lake promises pike, bass, musky and walleyes. Perch, sunfish, sturgeon and garpike can also be found. It's a good area to explore when not fishing, amongst the pine trees and granite rocks. The Mashkinonje Provincial Park is a nearby nature preservation area.

The French River area has another vacation spot, on the south shore of Trout Lake. Silvery Moon Lodge offers Ontario fishing sport on the 15 miles long lake, stocked with trout, bass, pike, musky and walleye. There are nine cabins along the water's edge with screened porches and consisting of one to three bedrooms. Gas barbecues are provided and the boats are equipped with fuel, nets and life jackets. Boats can put out on the launch ramp and a successful catch can be cleaned at the cleaning station.

This site is a good location for all the family and there is plenty to do for the children. There is a beach and a playground and kids like to catch the local frogs. There are hiking paths through the forest and activities such as hunting, canoeing and kayaking. The site also has badminton and volleyball courts.

Red Pine Lodge on Ivanhoe Lake is another scenic spot, with white beaches and surrounding pine trees. The lodge has three bedrooms, lounge and dining room and there are also cottages that sleep 2-10 people. The Northern Lights are a common sight here and there is the opportunity to hunt for moose or bear as well as going Ontario fishing.
