Educational facilities are an important part of any area and the Housatonic Community College has been a valuable resource in Bridgeport, Connecticut since its opening in 1967. The campus is located on Lafayette Boulevard and it operates as a two-year public college offering Associate Degrees and Certificate Programs.

As with all good colleges of this kind, there are a wide variety of subjects available across the spectrum of academic study and vocational application. The Associate Degree courses at Housatonic Community College include Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, and Criminal Justice. Arts subjects include Fine Arts, Graphic Design and Theatre Arts. There is also Nursing and Occupational Therapy.

Certificate Programs also offer a variety of courses, including Business Certificates, Computer Information Certificates, Maths/Science Certificates and Early Childhood Education Certificates. It is also possible to attend Continuing Education classes at Housatonic Community College. Some of these non-credit programs can be undertaken within a day or a week. Subjects include photography, art and marketing.

The college also runs Distance Learning courses online. In addition to these, the online facility has online classrooms for full time students to communicate with their teachers. They find this very useful and use the classroom as an extra learning tool. Courses are presented through power point presentations and other methods.

The faculties do their best to support the students and provide them with first class resources. The campus library is a welcoming environment for students to study or to relax in. There is extensive information for research and a total of more than 48,000 book titles. Some students also use the facility to unwind and read the newspaper. The collection also includes videos and CDs, most of which are allowed to be taken out. In addition to educational titles, there are feature films available on video. The library also has an online archive to access magazine and newspaper articles.

Other amenities are there to support students and staff. The Housatonic Community College bookstore sells text books and these can be bought at the store or ordered from the college website. The Cafeteria is the place to grab a meal and catch up with friends and there is also a Student Lounge. The Academic Support Center offers tutoring and disability services and the Counseling Center is there for pastoral care. The Financial Aid Office is there for advice and to sort out any problems. The office runs workshops during semester time.
